Steve Jobs Speech

For the past year I have been reading the Steve Jobs book. I have always been a slow at finishing a book, as I rarely find myself to have time to read, or even be bothered to read.

Before I purchased his biography, I came across his speech at Stanford which my parents forwarded to me.

 

My favourite quote throughout the whole speech is this one:

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.  So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.  You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.  This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

It makes me wonder if the world was about to end I think one of my regrets would be that I never finished his book.

I guess it's time to make time. :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all been well!

Looking back on 2011 it has been a pretty interesting year. I said goodbye to my job, my bum life and said hello to my first design job at Woof Creative. I feel very lucky to have landed this job. I've had a few design interviews in the past and its rare to find a place which has exactly the right environment and people you are looking for. The real surprise I could say was landing into the Advertising stream. It wasn't something I thought about during uni but I'm kind of glad it worked out this way. Kind of opened new doors for me...and hopefully be one step closer to what I really want (which is ? atm)

As well as the highs of landing this job, I also got to see some amazing sites in Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, got to meet some pretty cool people and made some pretty awesome friends along the way.

But as the saying goes, with every high there's gotta be a low too, and for me there were times which were pretty difficult. The transition between bum life to full time work was never easy, and finding that balance between work, family, friends and personal time was definitely a struggle. Nevertheless 8 months on, I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

I've also managed to shake off my obsession with Kpop Music (sad to say it was an obsession). Not saying it was a low point of my life but listening to the music again it's not as great as I remembered it to be. Putting good looking, skinny, stylish idols in flashy music clips with auto tuned beats definitely sucked me in! I still have my favorites but I can finally move on from that phase in my life. Perhaps it's a small step to growing up? and getting old....time for some Buble please.

So now to look forward to 2012 filled with over time, old age, bad eyesight and better experiences to come.

Goals 2010/2011

I can't believe it. It's been almost 5 years since I left high school. Crazy ey? I'm 21 years old and I'm at the stage where I'm starting to reflect on my life. People are getting married, engaged, working full time, going overseas to work...it's so. old. Seems like it was yesterday that I had my first day of orientation at uni and now I've completed my Honours degree, 4 years like that. Sounds like a mid year crisis? Quarterly crisis lol? But I think it's about time I set new goals for myself. Hopefully I won't age in the process as I figure out what I want my 2011 to be.

Things to looks forward to this summer/holiday/til I find a job...

My Mug List

Hey everyone ^^

Well atm, i'm on holidays :D..for those of you who don't know...I shall tell you again...
HOLIDAYS xD

I guess that's the bonus of doing design. Stress 24/7 but rewarded with a very long break =)

This holiday, I am planning to accomplish a lot. Theres so many things I plan to do...design wise, career wise and social wise. I seriously doubt i'll be able to fit it in 4 weeks, but i'll try my best.

I remember watching the Bucket list, and they had a really cool list of things to do. But since mine is short term..I think I'll just call it...err...mug list (not exactly opposite of a bucket but whatever lol.)

Plan A- DRAW MORE.
Every holiday I say I want to get commissions, and only ever get one. Josh if your reading this, I will finish yours THIS HOLIDAY! Sorry I left it so long -_-

But yes other than that one commission...I will have time to do lots more! I've come to realise that I have been quite lenient when it comes to payment on drawings. And although I feel guilty about asking people for money, being soft hearted on those sorta things will get me no where in life.

So yes, commissions from me are now open :D And...I will make sure that everything is sorted (like deadline, payment) before anything goes under hand. ^^ If you want me to draw or design something, give me a shout and I'll be willing to help! I might make a ebay/pay pal account soon lol....

Prices start at $10 (sketch) and go higher as size/medium increases...

Plan B- Social stuff
Movies, B'days, Karaoke, Shopping, Sleepovers, 2am Maccas....yeh that sounds good ^^

Plan C- MANIFEST
Must start making keyrings, plushies, prints, poster etc...

Manifest will be running from the 21st-23rd of August at the Melbourne Showgrounds. If you are coming please visit me, liz, steph and kanan as we are gonna be selling stuff (bring your wallets too ;D)

Plan D- Stay Healthy
My sleeping pattern is so bad and I look like a zombie panda lately z_z
Also gotta clean room...still horrible from last sem's craziness lol.

Plan E- Figure out what I'm gonna do next year...
Yeah that's always a good plan...
(Should try and get resume in order, and research potential studios.)

Er...I think that's it. Kinda weird how I posted such a wordy post here but oh well haha.

ALL TALK, NO ACTION

How sad. I couldn't think of what to draw so I thought I might as well make a list of things and put some silly drawing of me next to it lol. My writing and drawing skills have gone downhill...blast you design!! >_<

Anyway haha, here it is. A list of Must do's for this summer. Not very interesting. Every year I make one, and every year I only accomplish one or two -,- Since this blog is put on my msn name, hopefully i'll feel more inclined to doing something about it!

Expect more action ^^
